Australian named among World’s most powerful

Australian mining magnate and green energy advocate Andrew Forrest has been named among the world’s 100 most powerful people.

Commonly known as “Twiggy,” Forrest is the only Australian featured in Time magazine’s 2025 list of the world’s most powerful individuals.

He serves as the chairman of Fortescue Metals Group, a major player in the global mining industry.

Forrest has been widely praised for transforming Fortescue into a leading clean energy powerhouse.

In addition to his business achievements, he is recognized for his philanthropic efforts and commitment to sustainability.

He is actively campaigning for a global phase-out of fossil fuels by the year 2040.

Fatih Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency, described Forrest as “one of the world’s greatest industrialists” in Time’s feature.

Birol further emphasized that Forrest represents the kind of bold and visionary leadership needed in today’s world.

The 2025 list is dominated by U.S. President Donald Trump, his cabinet, Vice President JD Vance, and tech billionaire Elon Musk.

Andrew Forrest’s inclusion highlights Australia’s growing influence in the global clean energy movement.
