The Australian dollar has recorded a slight increase against the Sri Lankan rupee, according to the latest exchange rate data released by the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka .
The RBA reported that one Australian dollar was valued at 0.6931 US dollars, while Australia’s Trade-Weighted Index (TWI) stood at 65.1.
Meanwhile, the latest official exchange rates released by the CBSL on July 7 show that one Australian dollar is trading at Rs. 232.85, compared to Rs. 232.3321 recorded on the previous day.
The US dollar was recorded at Rs. 334.94, showing a slight decline from the previous day’s value of Rs. 335.25.
Economic analysts say fluctuations in currency values can directly affect Sri Lankans living and working in Australia, international students, travellers, and businesses involved in imports and exports.
Changes in the Australian dollar exchange rate also play an important role for families receiving overseas remittances, as well as those managing financial transactions between Australia and Sri Lanka.
