Australia urges citizens to leave Iran immediately

The Australian Government has strongly urged all Australians currently in Iran to leave the country as soon as possible, as nationwide protests enter their 11th day and continue to escalate.

According to Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), the situation remains highly volatile, with reports of widespread arrests, violent crackdowns, and fatalities. The Smartraveller website continues to advise against all travel to Iran, warning that security forces’ responses to the protests have been severe and that many protesters and bystanders have been injured, killed, or detained.

Australian authorities have cautioned that conditions could deteriorate without warning and have urged citizens to prioritise their safety.
