A recent study has shown that fewer student visas were issued to Indian nationals than to Australians in 2024.
According to the findings, Australia, along with Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States, has reduced the number of student visas granted to Indians in the first three quarters of the year.
This decline is attributed to changes in immigration policies across several countries.
Media reports indicate that Australia has cut student visas for Indians by 46%, while Canada has reduced theirs by 72%.
The United Kingdom and the United States have also decreased visa issuances by 38% and 49%, respectively, as part of efforts to limit the import of dependents.
As a result, Indian students are increasingly turning to countries like Germany for their higher education, seeking new opportunities for studying abroad.
