Australia has announced a provisional 15-player squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, to be held in Sri Lanka and India. Mitchell Marsh will captain the team and welcomes back Pat Cummins, Cameron Green, and Cooper Connolly, who all missed the recent T20 series against India.
The squad features a spin-heavy lineup, including Adam Zampa, Matthew Kuhnemann, Cooper Connolly, and all-rounders Glenn Maxwell and Matthew Short. Australian chairman of selectors George Bailey said the panel focused on selecting players likely to adapt well to the conditions in India and Sri Lanka, although some players are joining under fitness concerns.
“The T20 side has enjoyed recent success, which allowed the panel to choose a balanced group for the various conditions Sri Lanka and India may present,” Bailey said. “Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, and Tim David are progressing well, and we are confident they will be available for the World Cup. This is a preliminary squad, and adjustments can be made ahead of the support period if necessary.”
