New amendments to the rules for casual workers in Australia will take effect from today.
These regulations, introduced on August 26 last year, allow eligible workers to request a transition to full-time or part-time employment by providing written notice to their employer.
Employers can only refuse such requests for specific, accepted reasons.
This change is expected to create a pathway to permanent residency for approximately 850,000 casual workers.
