Australia cuts visa allocations for 6 Indian states

The Australian High Commission in New Delhi has denied media reports claiming that student visa allocations have been cut for six Indian states.

The High Commission issued a statement clarifying that no such restrictions have been imposed.

Reports had earlier suggested that Australia had capped student visas for applicants from Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Jammu and Kashmir.

However, the High Commission emphasized that the Australian government continues to process Indian student visa applications according to global standards.

Currently, more than 125,000 Indian students are studying in Australia, reflecting the strong educational ties between the two countries.
