Australia is just one week away from the 2026 Census Night, with the Australian Bureau of Statistics urging everyone across the country to take part.
The Census will be held on Tuesday, 11 August 2026, and will provide a detailed snapshot of Australia’s population, housing and communities.
The ABS say Census information helps governments, businesses and community organizations plan essential services, including schools, healthcare, transport and infrastructure.
Most households have received instructions to complete the Census online, while paper forms are available for those who need them. The ABS expect around 85 per cent of forms to be completed digitally this year.
Everyone in Australia on Census Night must be counted, including visitors and temporary visa holders. The ABS say participation is compulsory and individual information will remain protected under privacy laws.
The 2026 Census will collect important information about Australia’s changing population, including demographics, employment, education, housing and community needs.
