Australia A squad announced for multi-format series against SL A in Darwin

The National Selection Panel (NSP) has announced a 16-player Australia A squad for a multi-format series against Sri Lanka A to be played in Darwin next month.

Jake Weatherald, the top run-scorer in the 2024-25 Sheffield Shield season, headlines the squad which blends seasoned performers and rising stars.

Jason Sangha, Kurtis Patterson, and Campbell Kellaway have been selected following standout performances in the recent Sheffield Shield season.

Kellaway’s two first-class centuries during a breakthrough summer for Victoria earned him a spot in the squad.

Consistent performances in the One-Day Cup have led to call-ups for Liam Scott, Bryce Jackson, and Henry Thornton.

Emerging talents such as Ollie Peake and Jack Nisbet are also part of the squad, highlighting a focus on future prospects.

Players currently engaged in overseas commitments were not considered for this series, with a captain to be named closer to the first match.

All matches of the Australia A vs. Sri Lanka A series will be streamed live on Kayo Sports and cricket.com.au.

Ticket pre-sales for the 2025-26 international cricket season will begin on 3rd of June with general sales opening on 13th of June.

Chair of Selectors George Bailey said the squad was carefully chosen to balance experience and potential, offering a valuable test against international competition.

He noted that seasoned players like McSweeney and Renshaw would help guide the younger members of the squad.

Bailey also confirmed that several players will be considered for the India tour in September as part of Australia A’s preparation for the 2027 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

The five-match series includes three 50-over games and two four-day matches, all to be played at Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin.

The series kicks off on 4th of July with a day-night one-day game and concludes with a second four-day match ending on 23rd of July .
