The Constitutional Council will review the President’s proposal for the appointment to the post of Auditor General and is expected to reach a final decision on February 3, Minister Bimal Rathnayake said.
The President has submitted a nominee for the Auditor General position to the Constitutional Council for the fifth time.
Although the Council was originally scheduled to meet today to decide on the matter, Minister Rathnayake said the decision will now be made next Tuesday.
“The President has submitted a new name. Members need time to study it. Therefore, we will take a decision on this matter on February 3, the same day Parliament convenes,” Minister Rathnayake told the media in Kandy.
