Armed man breaks into Victoria plane

A young man who boarded a Victoria flight with a firearm has been arrested by officers, including the pilots.

The 17-year-old was apprehended at Avalon Airport yesterday following an incident on a Jetstar flight to Sydney.

A passenger on the plane reported that the young man attempted to enter the cockpit with the firearm, presumably to hijack the plane. However, he was quickly subdued by officers onboard.

At the time of the incident, there were 160 passengers on the plane, and fortunately, no one was injured.

Two bags belonging to the young man were later searched by a bomb disposal unit.

The police have taken steps to remand the young man on several charges, including possession of a firearm, endangering the safety of an aircraft, and creating a bomb scare.
