April 19 declared day of prayers for Easter Sunday attack victims

The Catholic Church in Sri Lanka has declared April 19, 2026, as a day of prayer in remembrance of the victims of the Easter Sunday bombings, Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith announced.

He said prayer services will be held in all Catholic churches across the country, with the faithful coming together to seek divine guidance and truth regarding the attacks.

Cardinal Ranjith added that the prayers will be offered to the Almighty, calling for justice and clarity, in line with the wishes of the victims’ families who continue to seek answers.
