Minister of Health and Mass Media Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa announced that approval has been granted to make permanent the services of 1,000 currently registered substitute postal assistants, and to recruit and register an additional 1,000 new substitute postal assistants.
He also highlighted ongoing efforts to address persistent challenges within the Department of Posts, including staff shortages and transportation issues.
These remarks were made during his inspection of the Central Mail Exchange services under the Sri Lanka Department of Posts.
After the inspection, Minister Jayatissa held discussions with officers and staff about current operations, future plans, and existing challenges.
