The Court of Appeal has reserved July 3 to deliver its judgment on a revision application filed by Yoshitha Rajapaksa in relation to the money laundering case commonly known as the “Menik Malla” case.

The application challenges a Colombo High Court ruling that dismissed a preliminary objection raised by the defence during the ongoing trial proceedings.

The matter was heard before a bench comprising Justices Amal Ranaraja and Sumudu Premachandra. After considering oral submissions from both parties, the court fixed July 3 as the date to announce its decision on the revision petition.

Rajapaksa has requested the Court of Appeal to overturn the High Court’s ruling, arguing that the dismissal of the preliminary objection should be reviewed by a higher court.

Attorney Hafeel Farisz appeared on behalf of the petitioner, while Senior Deputy Solicitor General Janaka Bandara represented the Attorney General during the proceedings.
