Russian Chess Federation President Andrey Filatov has asked the International Chess Federation (FIDE) to launch an investigation into allegations that China’s world chess champion Ding Liran deliberately lost to India’s Gukesh at the World Championship.
This action of the Russian chess president was revealed by the Ukrainian chess coach Peter Heine Nielson 666. Filatov’s actions were reported on Russian news agency TASS, Nielsen noted on social media.
TASS news agency quoted Filatov as saying: “The result of the final has confused both professional chess players and chess fans. The performance of the Chinese chess player in the decisive match is highly questionable and requires a special investigation by FIDE. It is difficult even for a first-class player to lose his place in Ding Liran’s game that day. The defeat of the Chinese chess player in this match raises many questions and seems to be deliberate.
