
The Commonwealth Union (CU) has appointed internationally acclaimed artist and award-winning entertainer Mr. Alston Koch as its Envoy to Australia and the Pacific Region.
In this newly created role, Mr. Koch will represent the CU and advance its objectives in line with the People’s Charter of the Commonwealth. His responsibilities include strengthening regional collaboration, promoting inclusivity and sustainability, and enhancing community engagement across Australia and the Pacific.
In addition to his envoy duties, Mr. Koch will serve as a Consultant to the CU, providing strategic advisory services and marketing support. He will assist the Union’s Digital Platform by facilitating key introductions, attracting advertising partnerships, and participating in approved business negotiations to expand the Union’s global outreach.
Mr. Koch is widely recognized for his contributions to music, entertainment, and humanitarian work. As an Ambassador for Climate Change (I.C.T.P.), he has championed environmental awareness and sustainable initiatives. His community development efforts have earned him recognition from the California State Senate and the U.S. Congress, and in 2018, he was named “Sri Lankan of the Year.” He also pioneered the first cable TV network in the region.
Reflecting his commitment to cultural diplomacy and social good, Mr. Koch serves as an Ambassador for Sri Lanka Tourism, the Family Film Awards (USA), and The Arts for Peace Foundation (USA). He recently received commendation from the Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives for his contributions to charities and sporting institutions.

His role as Envoy will be vital in extending our outreach in Australia and the Pacific Region.”
His Excellency Abdullah Shahid, President of the UN General Assembly, also congratulated Mr. Koch on his appointment during a presentation at the Commonwealth Union offices.
With a decades-long international career spanning Asia, Australia, and beyond, Mr. Koch brings a unique combination of cultural influence and public engagement to this role, promising to advance the Commonwealth Union’s objectives across the region.
