All set for Starlink launch in Sri Lanka, says deputy minister

The government has completed all the required procedures to introduce Starlink services in Sri Lanka, according to Deputy Minister of Digital Economy Eranga Weeraratne.

He stated that once the expected information dashboard is received from Starlink, the service can be launched without delay.

The Deputy Minister made these remarks during a bilateral meeting hosted by the Sri Lankan High Commission in Singapore, on the sidelines of the 2025 Tech Summit Asia.

During the meeting, Deputy Minister Weeraratne discussed Sri Lanka’s digital transformation plans with Ambassador Stephan Lang, the U.S. Coordinator for International Communications and Information Policy.

Ambassador Lang highlighted the strategic importance of these efforts and reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s progress in implementing critical digital initiatives.

He described the plans as both challenging and vital to Sri Lanka’s digital future.
