Former Minister S. B. Dissanayake claimed that many past international transactions were tainted by widespread corruption and financial misconduct.
He said that if such irregularities, fraud, or corrupt dealings can be proven with credible evidence, he would fully support legal action against those responsible.
Dissanayake made these remarks in reference to the recent arrest of former SriLankan Airlines CEO Kapila Chandrasena over an ongoing investigation into alleged bribery and financial misappropriation linked to the Airbus aircraft procurement deal.
He further stated that several international deals carried out during that period involved corruption and theft, emphasizing that anyone found guilty in transactions such as the Airbus purchase should be held accountable and punished according to the law.
