The comments were made during a light-hearted podcast interview, where Albanese referred to Takaichi bringing him “a couple of melons”.

A suggestive hand gesture during the conversation sparked accusations that the remark was a sexual joke.

However, Albanese’s spokesperson has strongly denied that the comment was referring to Takaichi’s body.
