Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has brushed aside questions about a potential successor, insisting his focus remains firmly on governing and preparing for the next federal election.

During an interview, Albanese rejected speculation about who might eventually lead the Labor Party, emphasizing that his government is united and focused on delivering results for Australians.

He said the government’s priorities include improving living standards, strengthening the economy, expanding education opportunities and addressing cost-of-living pressures.

Albanese pointed to recent initiatives, including support for early childhood educators and measures to help Australians cope with rising fuel costs.

The Prime Minister also contrasted Labor’s unity with ongoing leadership tensions within the opposition, arguing that voters can be confident about the government’s direction and values.

He reaffirmed his intention to lead Labor into the next election, expected in 2028, and said discussions about future leadership are not a concern for his caucus.
