Airlines around the world are raising ticket prices and introducing fuel surcharges as jet fuel costs surge amid escalating tensions in the Middle East.
The rise in oil prices linked to the ongoing conflict in the region has significantly increased aviation fuel costs, which are among the largest operating expenses for airlines.
Several carriers have already responded to the situation. Air India and IndiGo have introduced fuel surcharges on both domestic and international flights, while other airlines across Asia and Europe are reviewing their fares and operational costs.
According to aviation industry monitors, jet fuel prices in the region have risen sharply in recent weeks as geopolitical tensions continue to disrupt global energy markets.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka may also experience higher airfares. A spokesman from the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka said that if aviation fuel prices continue to increase, airline ticket prices are also likely to rise.
