In an unusual mishap aboard the USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75), an F/A-18E Super Hornet and its tow tractor accidentally fell overboard into the Red Sea on 28th of April 2025.

The aircraft, assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 136, was being towed inside the hangar bay when the crew lost control during the operation.

Fortunately, all personnel involved were safely accounted for, with only one sailor sustaining a minor injury.

Crew members acted quickly to clear the area before the jet went overboard.

The incident is currently under investigation, but the Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group and its air wing remain fully operational.

The strike group includes the Harry S. Truman as its flagship, nine squadrons of Carrier Air Wing 1, three guided-missile destroyers of Destroyer Squadron 28, and the cruiser USS Gettysburg (CG 64).
