
A group of 50 hearing and speech impaired individuals, who completed special training from the Department of Motor Traffic, were issued temporary driving licenses.
Ampara District Secretary Chinthka Abeywickrema handed out the temporary licenses, which will remain valid until the permanent ones are issued.
The training was provided by the Department of Motor Traffic, with steps taken to issue the licenses based on recommendations from Assistant Commissioner of Motor Traffic, Ampara.
The event saw the presence of Ampara District SSP Sanath Bandara and Assistant Commissioner of Motor Traffic Rohan D. De Silva.
This initiative marks an important step in empowering persons with disabilities by enabling them to drive safely on the roads.
The special training aimed to ensure these individuals meet the necessary requirements for driving, fostering inclusion and mobility.
