The government has officially published the list of 40 countries whose citizens will be eligible for visa-free entry to Sri Lanka, waiving standard visa fees to encourage tourism.
Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath announced the decision during the Hotel Show Colombo 2025 at BMICH, stating the move is part of a broader strategy to revitalize the tourism sector and attract more international visitors.
The 40 countries granted visa-free entry include major tourism source markets across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Oceania. These include the United Kingdom, Germany, China, India, Russia, the United States, Australia, and Saudi Arabia, among others.
The initiative is expected to enhance connectivity, simplify travel, and position Sri Lanka as a more competitive and accessible destination in the global travel market.
