Australia’s 2026 Census is just days away, with millions of residents being urged to make sure they complete the mandatory survey.
The Census will be held on Tuesday, August 11, and everyone in Australia on Census night is required to take part, including temporary visa holders.
Authorities warn that people who fail to complete the Census after receiving a formal direction could face a fine of up to 364 dollars per day.
Providing false or misleading information can also result in a fine of up to 3,640 dollars.
The 2026 Census includes 66 questions, with new topics covering sex recorded at birth, gender and sexual orientation, while people can also list up to four ancestries.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics says Census data will help governments plan healthcare, education, infrastructure and other essential services across Australia.
