33 Eastern projects to be funded under Sri Lanka-India MoU

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to implement 33 development projects in Sri Lanka’s Eastern Province, with a total allocation of Rs. 2,371 million.

The initiative will focus on key sectors including education, health, agriculture, irrigation, tourism, and community empowerment, according to Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Nalinda Jayathissa.

Specific funding allocations include Rs. 315 million for education, Rs. 780 million for health, Rs. 620 million for agriculture, and Rs. 230 million for fisheries.

The projects aim to enhance infrastructure, foster economic growth, and promote social empowerment in the Eastern Province.

The Cabinet has officially approved the signing of the MoU to initiate these development projects.

The funding and implementation of these projects are expected to significantly improve the region’s social and economic conditions.
