Around 23 people were injured in a bus accident that occurred in Nuwara Eliya late last night according to an Ada Derana reporter.
The private bus, traveling from Nuwara Eliya to Kandy, veered off the Nuwara Eliya–Kandy main road and overturned in the Toppass area at approximately 11:45 p.m.
At the time of the incident, 54 passengers were on board, including the driver, police confirmed.
Among the injured were three men, including the driver and conductor, and 20 women. All were admitted to the Nuwara Eliya District General Hospital for treatment.
The group had been returning from a leisure trip from Kurunegala to Badulla when the accident occurred.
All injured passengers are residents of Kiriwaula in Kurunegala.
Nuwara Eliya Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
