
The 2025 Budget will be presented on 17th of February, with a comprehensive debate scheduled to run for 26 days from February 18th to 21st of March 2025.
This decision was made during a meeting of the Committee on Parliamentary Business, chaired by Speaker Hon. Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne.
The first reading of the Appropriation Bill is set for 9th of January 2025.
The second reading, which includes the Budget Speech, will take place on 17th of February followed by a seven-day debate from 18th to 25th of February.
The vote on the second reading is scheduled for 25th of February at 6:00 p.m.
The Committee Stage Debate will be conducted over 19 days, including four Saturdays, from 27th of February to 21st of March.
The third reading vote will occur on 21st of March at 6:00 p.m. During the budget period, 9:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. will be reserved for oral questions, and the debate will run from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Additionally, motions at adjournment time will be allocated from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on all days, except for 25th of February and 21st of March, when votes are scheduled.
