Deadly violence at Negombo Prison has claimed the lives of at least 25 people after fresh unrest erupted this morning.

The victims include four prison officials and four inmates, while authorities are still confirming the identities of the remaining deceased.
More than 100 people, most of them prison and security personnel, have been injured in the clashes.
Prison officers, Police, and Special Task Force personnel have now brought the situation under control after hours of violence.
The latest unrest followed a confrontation between inmates and prison officials, a day after rival inmate groups were involved in a separate clash.
With two consecutive days of violence, the prison tragedy has left more than 25 people dead and over 100 injured, raising serious concerns over security inside the facility.
